About face capture security checks

To help keep your account safe, Found may ask you to complete a quick face capture before you approve certain activity in the Found app, such as confirming a login on a new device. The check takes a few seconds and helps confirm that you’re the person approving activity on your account, not someone who has gained access to your phone or login.

When you’ll see it

You’ll only be asked for a face capture in the Found mobile app, when you’re approving activity that needs an extra layer of security. You’ll see a screen that says A quick check to help keep your account safe before the camera opens.

Found won’t ask you to complete a face capture through a link in a text message or email. If you get a message asking you to send a photo or video of your face, don’t respond, and contact our support team through the Found app.

How it works

  • Tap Continue on the intro screen.
  • If this is your first check, allow Found to use your camera.
  • Hold your phone at eye level and fit your face in the oval on screen.
  • Follow the prompts to move closer to the camera. The capture finishes on its own after a few seconds.

Once the check is complete, you’ll be taken back to finish approving the activity.

How your face capture is protected

  • Stored securely by Found. Your video is checked as it’s captured, and the resulting photos are encrypted and stored in Found’s own systems.
  • Never sold or shared for anyone else’s use. The check is processed on our behalf by a secure cloud service provider. It isn’t used to train their models, and they don’t keep your video.
  • Limited access. Only authorized members of Found’s team can view a face capture, and only to review activity on your account.

How your face capture is used

Found uses face captures only to help confirm that you’re the one taking actions on your account. For example, if we see an approval that doesn’t look like you, our team can use your face capture to review it. Your face capture is never used for advertising or marketing.

Troubleshooting

If your face capture doesn’t complete, you can tap Try again to start a new one. For the best results:

  • Find a well-lit spot and avoid strong light directly behind you.
  • Make sure your whole face is visible. Remove sunglasses, hats, or masks.
  • Clean your front-facing camera.

Camera access is turned off. Open your phone’s Settings, find Found, and turn on camera access. Then return to the app and try again.

The check expired. A face capture needs to be completed shortly after it starts. Tap Try again to start a new one.

If you’re still having trouble, contact our support team through the Found app.
