For compliance and security purposes, Found may ask you to verify your identity by uploading a picture of your government identification and taking a few selfies. In most cases, this process can be completed in just a few minutes.
To ensure smooth and successful identity verification, follow these steps:
Found accepts most forms of identification issued by United States federal and state authorities, including driver’s licenses, passports, and state IDs. Some forms of identification that we are unable to accept include:
Student IDs, library cards, or any other identification not issued by a government agency
Birth certificates, social security cards, or other non-photographic identification
Expired or invalid IDs
Temporary or damaged IDs
Additionally, we are unable to accept electronic reproductions of your identification—including pictures of screens.
For best results, be sure that your ID is on a clean, flat surface, that the entire front and back of the ID (including the barcode) is pictured, and that glare is minimized.
When taking selfies, we recommend that you do this in a well-lit environment. For best results, clean your front-facing camera and, when prompted, turn your head left and right to capture different angles of your face.
Additionally, we are unable to accept previously taken photographs for identification purposes. We recommend completing verification on your mobile device, rather than using a computer webcam.
